The perennial ornamental herbaceous plant forms dense, compact tufts. The narrow, drooping leaves are green with a creamy-white or light-yellow margin, which creates a visual frost effect. The plant height is typically 15–30 cm. In autumn, the foliage turns golden-brown shades.
Flowering occurs from March to May with small sulfur-yellow spike-like inflorescences. The variety is winter-hardy and withstands frosts down to -31 °C. It prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with loose, permeable soil. It is used in landscape design for group plantings, edging flower beds, and rock gardens.
