The plant belongs to the genus Caryopteris, often indicated in documentation as the cultivar Caryopteris incana or the hybrid complex Caryopteris × clandonensis. It is distinguished by a unique inflorescence shape — the flowers are gathered in dense pom-pom-like clusters located along the stem. Flowering can repeat during the warm season.

The shrub is adapted for USDA hardiness zones 5a–9b. It prefers well-drained soils and is sensitive to water stagnation, which triggers root rot. Annual spring pruning is recommended to maintain a compact shape and stimulate flowering on young shoots.
