The plant reaches a height of about 1.2 meters with a width of 60 cm. The scale-like needles are bright yellow or lime-green in spring, contrasting with the darker inner part of the crown. The bark has a reddish hue and a characteristic shaggy texture.
The variety prefers full sun or partial shade, as well as moist, well-drained, acidic soils. The shrub is sensitive to root ball drying. The plant is characterized by moderate resistance to air pollution and is often used in landscape design for creating borders or as an accent plant.
