The variety belongs to the Kabuli type, characterized by large, smooth, cream-colored seeds. Pax chickpea is a self-pollinating annual herbaceous plant with a deep root system reaching 1–1.5 meters, which provides the crop with good drought tolerance.
The variety is used in breeding research, including the study of antinutritional factors, for example, trypsin inhibitors. A long flowering period is noted, which can continue in parallel with the formation of green pods on other plants.
The chickpea is intended for food use. Flour from the seeds of this variety is used in baking to improve flavor and extend the shelf life of the finished products.
