The variety belongs to the curled forms of endive, which is reflected in its alternative names Gele Krul and Fijne Krul Geel. Externally, the plant is distinguished by a yellowish-green shade of the leaves and the presence of connecting strips of leaf blade along the main vein.

The variety's produce is considered more delicate compared to green endive varieties, however, the variety is characterized by lower reliability in yield. In a historical context, the variety was intended for private cultivation and culinary processing.
