Variety description

The plant reaches a height of up to 45 cm and forms a compact heart. The leaves have a rounded shape and a serrated edge. A traditional variety known in Europe under various synonyms, such as Escariol Grüner and Breedblad Volhart Winter.

Used as a salad crop for fresh consumption. During cultivation, leaf blanching by tying them up can be used to reduce bitterness and add tenderness to the heart. The crop is demanding of soil fertility.
