The variety Sirion is a hybrid of leaf chicory grown as radicchio. In UPOV technical documentation, the variety is used as a reference sample when describing the morphological characteristics of the head, in particular for the calibration of the axis length trait.

During comparative trials, susceptibility to powdery mildew was identified. Under dry autumn weather conditions, the level of plant sensitivity to this disease proved higher than that of the variety Treviso Tardivo.
