The plant forms a large rosette of lanceolate sagittate leaves and develops long, thin taproots. The variety is suitable for sowing from spring to late summer; harvesting is possible from May to November.
The variety is versatile: leaves and roots are suitable for animal feed in raw form or as silage. The roots are traditionally used for preparing a coffee surrogate, and the leaves can be consumed in salads. The crop is capable of suppressing the development of certain soil-borne pathogens, including nematodes.
The name originates from the Kuyavia region in Poland. Historically, this designation referred to specific breeding lines adapted to local conditions, which were mentioned as early as the first half of the 20th century.
