Variety description

10 August 2026

The Castagnaro variety tree is distinguished by vigorous development, an upright growth habit, and long, sometimes drooping branches. The leaves are lanceolate, dark green in color, and have a distinct aroma. The variety shows high hardiness and resistance to wind loads, but is characterized by alternate bearing.

The fruits are of medium size and primarily spherical in shape. The peel is distinguished by a coarser texture and a lower essential oil content compared to the Femminello variety. The designation V.C.R. in the name indicates a certified virus-free clone of this variety.
