The Fantastico V.C.R. tree grows vigorously and reaches medium size. The shoots are practically thornless; the leaves are large, dark green with a glossy surface. Fruiting begins after the third year of life, and flowering occurs once a year.
The fruits, weighing about 130 g, have a round-oval or pear shape. The rind is textured, moderately wrinkled, and adheres tightly to the flesh, which is distinguished by a sour taste with a bitter note. The variety is more stable in yield and more hardy compared to the Femminello and Castagnaro varieties.
The main purpose of the fruits is the extraction of essential oils from the rind for the perfume and cosmetic industry. The fruits are also used in the food industry for flavoring tea, as well as in the production of confectionery, jams, and beverages.
