The variety was discovered in 1953 in the vicinity of the city of Nules, Spain. The plant requires cross-pollination to form fruits, which may lead to the presence of seeds; therefore, growth regulators are used in commercial orcharding to obtain seedless fruits.

Fruits of this variety possess high flavor qualities and are intended for fresh consumption. The height of the plant depends directly on the type of rootstock, growing conditions, and the crown training method used.
