The tree reaches a height of 1.5 to 6 meters, the crown is dense and spreading, and branches often droop under the weight of the crop. The variety is remontant, blooms and fruits year-round, and it is more cold-hardy than the true lime.
Fruits with a diameter of about 6 cm have thin skin, which turns yellow upon ripening, but for sale they are harvested green. The pulp is pale greenish-yellow, sour, with a characteristic lime aroma. The plant is susceptible to certain viroids and the woody pocket disease.
