The Fonzy variety belongs to the Canary or Golden Honey type melon group. The fruits have a round shape, the skin surface is bright yellow, smooth or with slight ribbing. The flesh is of a light shade — from pale green to ivory, with a firm consistency.
Fruit weight averages from 1.3 to 1.4 kg, although it can vary in the range of 1.4 to 3.2 kg under different growing conditions. The variety is characterized as early-maturing and is intended for the fresh market.
The plant possesses intermediate resistance to powdery mildew (races 1, 2, 5). The variety is cultivated in Mexico and is recommended for growing in the western regions of the USA.
