The name translates from Czech as “Chinese snake-like” and denotes a group of varieties. A characteristic feature of representatives of this type is fruits 35 to 80 centimeters or more in length, which often have a curved shape. The fruit flesh is firm, without voids, with small seed chambers and thin skin.

The fruits are primarily used for fresh consumption. During cultivation, the plants often require the use of a trellis, which contributes to the growth of straighter fruits. Specific indicators of maturity, disease resistance, and yield depend on the characteristics of the specific variety or hybrid presented under this name.
