The Dasher variety is a slicing-type hybrid intended for the fresh market. The plant is characterized by a predominantly female flowering type, and the fruits have white spines. An improved version of the variety, known as Dasher II, matures earlier and features increased disease resistance.

Both varieties demonstrate resistance to scab, powdery mildew, downy mildew, angular leaf spot, and cucumber mosaic virus. Dasher II was widely distributed as a standard for comparative variety trials due to its stability and yield.
