The variety Ardito (breeding number TRC1401) is an interspecific hybrid intended for use as a rootstock for watermelon, melon, and other cucurbit crops. The plant is not grown for fruit production for human consumption.

Distinctive features of the variety include a powerful and uniform root system. Grafting crops onto this rootstock contributes to increased resistance of the grafted plants to soil-borne pathogens and the negative impact of abiotic factors.
