The variety is a traditional local landrace that has developed under conditions of natural and mass selection over many generations. The plant is vining or trailing with vigorous growth and medium-sized leaves.
The light gray fruits consist of two dome-shaped parts. The upper part is 11–26 cm wide, the lower part 6–21 cm. Harvest occurs at the end of September.
The deep orange flesh has a firm texture that becomes soft and non-fibrous after heat treatment, with a nutty flavor. In addition to culinary use of the flesh, roasted seeds are also consumed.
