The variety «Idrija» is a cultivar of Cyclamen purpurascens, identified by researchers during the analysis of an extensive collection of wild samples from various regions of Slovenia. The variety name is derived from the town of Idrija, in the vicinity of which high variability of morphological traits of this species is observed.
The main diagnostic feature of the variety is the pattern on the leaf blade. The plant is included in the so-called silvery group based on the visual characteristics of the leaves, which served as a key criterion for the classification of intraspecific diversity within the framework of the conducted study.
