The Chanson variety is mid-season and has a growing period of about 100 days. The root crops belong morphologically to the Chantenay variety type, have a conical, slightly barrel-shaped form with a rounded tip, and reach 16–18 cm in length.
The produce is characterized by juiciness and good taste qualities, as well as high keeping quality during storage. The variety is adapted for cultivation on heavy clay soils, where other types of root crops may be subject to deformation.
