The Chantenay variety type is a classic French carrot type. The period from germination to technical maturity ranges from 85 to 130 days, classifying plants of this type as mid-season or mid-late.

The roots have a conical shape with a blunt tip, an average length of 13–15 cm (sometimes up to 22 cm), and a diameter of up to 5–6 cm. The color of the flesh and the core is bright orange. The flesh is characterized by density, juiciness, and a high carotene content.

The variety type is well adapted for cultivation in heavy and dense soils, where long varieties are prone to deformation. The roots are resistant to cracking and bolting, and have universal use, including fresh consumption, processing, and long-term storage.
