The variety is a perennial grass that forms dense sod. As a lawn grass, it inherits the species characteristics of Deschutesia cespitosa: shade tolerance and cold hardiness, as well as the ability to grow on moist and waterlogged soils.
The plant's leaves are distinguished by high rigidity due to an increased silicon content, which provides resistance to trampling, although it requires the use of sharp blades when mowing the lawn. In breeding studies, the variety is considered in the context of phytopathological assessment, in particular resistance to rust.
