The variety «Orion» is an independent cultivar widely used in ornamental gardening and floristry, in particular for creating bouquets and use as dried flowers. The plant is valued for its high longevity when cut.
Plant height usually ranges from 60–90 cm. The variety has strong, well-branched stems. Inflorescences are head-shaped, flowers are small, colored in blue or blue-violet tones and surrounded by spiny bracts. For successful growth, the variety requires well-drained soils and placement in a sunny area.
