The variety is classified as a hay type, intended for obtaining high biomass for hay harvesting. It was bred at the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research in Aberystwyth.
In the literature of the 1950s–1960s, s-215 is mentioned as a standard when studying the growth dynamics of meadow fescue, fertilizer application techniques, and mowing regimes. Currently, the variety is considered obsolete and is practically not used in commercial production.
