The variety was bred through recurrent selection based on plants obtained from the variety «Steinacher Wiesenschwingel» (later «Cosmos 11»), which was subjected to radiation mutagenesis.
The variety is an important stage in the breeding process aimed at increasing seed resistance to shattering. It was used as initial material in the creation of the varieties «Cosmolit» and «Cosmopolitan».
