The variety Fure was selected from local material in western Norway. It is intended for use as a forage crop and is widely used in grass mixtures for pastures and hayfields, often in combination with timothy and red clover.
Plants of this variety are distinguished by increased leafiness and the accumulation of greater vegetative biomass compared to a number of older varieties. The development type is characterized by the fact that a smaller number of panicle shoots is compensated by their increased size.
The variety possesses high nutritional value and palatability for livestock. In the Scandinavian region, it often acts as a reference sample of meadow fescue in comparative field studies.
