The variety was bred in Sweden in the early 20th century based on the study of a wide collection of local meadow fescue samples. It was actively used for several decades, including in mixtures with timothy and red clover.
In agronomic literature, the variety is often mentioned as an object of genetic research and forage grass breeding. It serves as an example of the successful use of local ecotypes in creating varieties adapted to northern conditions, however, quantitative morphological data for it are absent.
