The variety belongs to the species Festuca rubra L. and was traditionally used for lawn establishment. In specialized publications from the 1980–2010s period, the variety often served as a control standard for studying establishment speed, wear tolerance, and disease resistance.

During comparative trials, the variety was classified as susceptible to certain fungal diseases, in particular snow mold (Typhula incarnata). In modern studies, the variety is considered primarily as a historical sample for comparison with new breeding achievements.
