The variety is a variegated form of Ficus benjamina. In UPOV documentation, the plant is classified as having a light-gray-brown stem color. In amateur floriculture, it is described as a slow-growing crop intended for greening bright rooms in pot culture.
The name Nikita is in some cases considered a trade name. There are difficulties with identifying the variety, as various forms of variegated ficuses can be sold under this name, which causes discussions about their differences from other similar varieties.
