The leaf blade of the variety is small, dark green, glossy, with a marked tendency to curl or twist, which gives the crown texture. The variety is classified as an evergreen shrub or small tree.
Under protected cultivation conditions, the plant usually reaches a height of 1.5–2 meters, although there are mentions of dwarf specimens about 55 cm tall. The variety has tolerance to heat and humidity, and is often used as a houseplant and for bonsai formation.
