The plant is a hexaploid species and dioecious, which requires planting male and female individuals for pollination. The maturity group is very early; the harvest period lasts 15–20 days at the end of May and the beginning of June. The peduncles often lodge to the ground during ripening.
The fruits are comparable in size to raspberries, dark red in color with whitish flesh. They possess a distinct musky-spicy aroma with notes of honey and wine. The produce is extremely delicate, spoils quickly, and must be sold or consumed within 48 hours after harvest.
