The cultivar was obtained by crossing Red Pearl and Maehyang. The plant is characterized by a low chilling requirement, which makes it suitable for forced cultivation in climate-controlled greenhouses.
The berries have a conical shape and a bright red color that turns to a burgundy shade upon full maturity. The firm consistency of the flesh ensures good keeping quality and transportability of the fruit. The cultivar is distinguished by a high sugar content with moderate acidity.
Jukhyang is for universal use, including fresh consumption, use in confectionery production, and processing into jams and syrups.
