The variety is of French origin and was historically grown in the Prin-Dérançon area. The berries are distinguished by their red color and elongated shape, and can be three times larger than the fruit of common woodland strawberries. The plant belongs to the everbearing or Alpine strawberry type and is capable of fruiting over an extended period.
In the past, the variety had commercial significance for supply to Parisian restaurants and was used for making jam. Due to limited information in scientific literature, precise data on plant characteristics, such as disease resistance or growth parameters, are absent, with the exception of a general description of the variety as hardy.
