The Romanian-bred variety Magic was developed as a result of crossing the parental forms Cardinal and MDUS 4044. In authoritative agronomic registries, this variety is not recorded as a generally recognized commercial variant, and detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are practically absent in open reference sources.

The term Magic in relation to strawberries also appears in scientific literature as a designation for breeding populations (Multi-parent Advanced Generation Inter-Crosses) used in genetic research, rather than for commercial cultivation. The name is often confused with varieties of other berry crops, such as the blackberry Black Magic, raspberry Tula Magic, or currant Black Magic.
