The plant is a compact shrub 10–15 cm tall with leathery oval or elliptical leaves. It blooms with small white bell-shaped flowers in early to mid-summer.

The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness (USDA zone 4a), prefers acidic moist soils and partial shade. Its primary purpose is decorative use in gardens and interiors due to the long-lasting retention of white fruit during the autumn-winter period.
