The variety is a perennial plant with well-branched stems and green lanceolate leaves. Bush height varies from 12 to 30 cm. The tubular flowers are sky-blue or blue-violet in color; a characteristic feature is the partial opening of the buds.
Flowering lasts from June to September. The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness, corresponding to USDA zone 4 (down to -34°C). It prefers bright locations or partial shade, humid air, and moist, well-drained, lime-free soils. It tolerates excessive moisture well and is resistant to diseases.
