The variety was obtained as a result of selection from a hybrid population, the pedigree of which traces back to a cross between line W214981 and variety S 29-20. Line W214981 was developed by crossing B152 with a combination of varieties Cutler 71 and Essex.
The variety belongs to a category requiring approximately 3125 crop heat units (CHU), maturing two days later than the Ivory variety. Seeds are characterized by a yellow hilum color, with a weight of approximately 5500–5600 seeds per kilogram. A certain degree of resistance to Phytophthora root rot is noted.
