The variety was created by backcrossing traditional varieties with the introduction of a gene from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis. The main purpose of the crop is to provide protection against tobacco budworm and bollworm.
The variety demonstrates high resistance to the specified pests, which allows for a significant reduction in the use of chemical insecticides. In terms of seed nutrient composition and fiber characteristics, it is equivalent to traditional commercial cotton varieties.
