The Pandora variety was introduced in 1948 for the coastal plain conditions of the state of Georgia. It is classified as Upland cotton and is characterized in breeding documents by the presence of a short fruiting branch.

This variety was used as source material for the development of subsequent breeding lines, such as Atlas 182, Atlas 261, and Atlas 302. The variety is not related to the modern company Sure Grow Seed Inc, which worked with other cotton lines in the 1990s.
