The variety belongs to the "stripper" type, which makes it adapted to mechanical harvesting used in cotton farms in the state of Texas. There is also a modification, All-Tex Atlas RR, which possesses the trait of herbicide resistance.
During agricultural trials, the variety demonstrated fiber fineness (micronaire) of about 4.1 and a fiber length of 34 in 32nds of an inch. Early publications also mentioned an experimental line called Atlas 59-180.
The variety is listed in the national registry — its seeds are authorized for sale in this country.
