The variety is an epiphytic plant forming a rosette of smooth green leaves. A characteristic feature is the bright bracts forming the inflorescence. The plant is adapted for cultivation in containers and greenhouse conditions.

The variety is used in breeding programs as a parental form for the creation of new hybrids. Priorities in selecting the variety were the decorative quality of the inflorescences, adaptability to pot production, and the ability to maintain marketability after transportation.
