The 6388 A line is a CMS line (sterile analogue) developed under the programs of the Trakia Agricultural Research Institute. It is used for breeding purposes as a maternal component for producing hybrid sunflower forms.
In 2003 studies, the line was classified as resistant to broomrape (Orobanche cernua). Furthermore, this material is actively used in research on interspecific hybridization with wild sunflower species, such as Helianthus argophyllus, as well as for studying combining ability and genetic resistance.
