The line was developed using the pedigree breeding method as a result of crossing lines J9848BG, U0456LG, and HXU049. It is intended for the production of seeds used for feed purposes and for oil extraction. A sterile analogue of the line was obtained using CMS PET1 cytoplasmic male sterility.
Seeds of this line have a narrow-ovate shape and a striped color pattern with black stripes. Hybrids created based on this line are adapted for cultivation in the Northern Plains regions of the USA, as well as in Central, Eastern, and Western Europe. The line also serves as genetic material for creating other breeding lines.
