Cherry-pie is not a specific breeding variety, but represents the name of the species Heliotropium arborescens itself. The aroma of the flowers of this plant resembles the scent of vanilla or cherry pie, which served as the reason for this naming.

The plant is an evergreen semi-shrub with alternate dark green oval leaves that have a wrinkled or pubescent surface. Small flowers are gathered in dense corymbose inflorescences of violet, blue, or purple color.

The height of the plant is from 30 to 120 cm. In regions with a temperate climate, it is grown as an annual, and in warm conditions, as a perennial. The crop is heat-loving, requires protection from frost and excessive moisture, and is used in ornamental landscaping.
