The variety forms a multi-stemmed shrub or small tree 1.8 to 3 meters in height. The plant has an open growth habit and a sturdy stem structure. Ornamental appeal is provided by the gray-brown exfoliating bark, which reveals lighter inner layers.
Flowering occurs in late summer to early autumn with white fragrant flowers gathered in paniculate inflorescences. After flowering, bright red sepals remain on the bush, persisting throughout autumn. The plant is adapted to USDA zones 5–9 and withstands temperatures down to -35 °C. The variety is resistant to diseases and does not require specific care provided there is good soil drainage.
