The variety is a two-row winter barley intended for use in the malting industry. Genetically, the variety is the result of individual selection of plants obtained from the hybrid combination of California and Metaxa, and during the breeding process it had the experimental number BR 11864p1.
During the selection of the variety, the key criteria were yield, test weight, plant height, maturity dates, and resistance to diseases and pests. Morphologically, the variety is characterized by the presence of spikes with one fertile spikelet per node, which is typical for two-row barley types.
