The barley variety Fiia belongs to the two-rowed barley type. It is an early-maturing crop adapted to the conditions of northern regions, where it is valued for its speed of ripening, despite lower yields compared to local British varieties. It is mainly used as a forage crop.
The name Fiia is also assigned to an oat variety of Finnish breeding. In a number of official documents and scientific publications, the variety may appear simultaneously in lists of both barley and oats, which requires clarification when analyzing field reports.
