The variety is a two-row spring barley characterized by high competitiveness against weeds. This feature is due to minimal light transmission through the plant canopy during the tillering and stem elongation phases, which makes it a subject of study in the field of ecological and organic farming.
In scientific literature and breeding practice, the variety is considered as adaptive source material. Its genetic potential was used in the development of new varieties, including the Latvian hulless barley Irbe.
