Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety was developed based on the genetic material of the Midas variety, in whose pedigree the Golden Promise variety was present. Currently, the variety has lost its commercial importance and is preserved mainly in gene bank collections.

The plant belongs to spring barley forms. Historically, the variety was intended for the malting industry and was studied for the nutritional value of its straw. Under laboratory conditions, the variety was identified using protein electrophoresis and peroxidase isoenzyme analysis methods, as its grain is visually difficult to distinguish from other varieties of that period.

The variety was used as a parental line in crosses, for example with the Triumph variety, and is frequently mentioned in works devoted to disease resistance genetics and interspecific hybridization.
