The Hobart variety was developed by the Danish company Sejet Planteforædling as a result of a breeding program aimed at improving yield and grain quality indicators. The variety was officially included in registration lists from 2006 to 2016, after which it was removed from the registry.
Available sources lack detailed morphological characteristics of the plant, such as maturity group or stem height. The variety is mentioned in scientific publications primarily in the context of laboratory experiments on studying the phytopathological resistance of barley.
