Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to short-stemmed, high-yielding barley varieties. It possesses historical significance for European breeding, being one of the first varieties in which the presence of the Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei powdery mildew resistance gene, known as Mla, was recorded.

The variety was used in breeding programs aimed at improving the malting quality of the crop. In addition, it was used in scientific experiments, including anther culture methods, to produce doubled haploids due to its genetic value.
